Arrival at Genoa airport
Upon our arrival at Genoa airport there will be a Voyamee’s team to expect and then accompany us towards our first stop of the excellence of Italy, Portofino. In the Gulf of Tigullio, we will find this small village that widens like a moon arch around a calm basin and up to a hidden inlet full of olive and chestnut trees. We will slowly cross the narrow passageway that connects this magnificent natural harbour to the sea, then we will head towards the amphitheatre of the houses, surrounded by a wood of powerful and fresh greenery: ”everything is reflected in the mirror of calm waters, where some fishing boats seem to sleep” (Guy de Maupassant-1889)
Abbey of San Fruttuoso
After breakfast we will go to the port to take the ferry with which we will arrive until the Abbey of San Fruttuoso, a small jewel that has a very ancient history and where the remarkable naturalistic and landscape values, are flanked by the architectural and historical values of the Abbey: a wonderful fusion, where the work of nature is happily superimposed to the work of man.
We will return to Portofino and then dine in the wonderful restaurant La Terrazza!
Evocative views of Italy
Waiting for us, one of the most evocative views of Italy: the Cinque Terre, five villages pervaded by the smell of wild nature, unspoiled, suspended between sea and land, features the network of fishermen, the terraced vines that guard millenary secrets, we will enjoy the perfect synergy that has been created between man and nature!
As soon as we are ready we will be waiting for the boat that will take us to the villages to see from the sea all the little towns and then stop and live them directly on land!
Our eyes will have to prepare for these images that will give us wonderful emotions!
And after this day full of wonders we will head directly to the capital of the Renaissance… Florence!
Cradle of the Renaissance, where Michelangelo, Da Vinci, Brunelleschi, and Galileo were inspired and used as a stage to make their works and creative genius known to the world!
Landscapes, impressive works of art and architectural wonders are the elements that blend and combine almost naturally, giving rise to a magical, romantic and absolutely unparalleled city. And so Florence will give us a charm that seems not to suffer the passing of time.
In the first half of the day we would visit the main places of the city within walking distance and then enjoy the afternoon in freedom.
The valley of Chianti and Siena
The valley of Chianti and Siena. Between green hills drawn by miles and miles of vineyards and olive groves, villages nestled between large medieval walls and winding roads, we will face this rich and suggestive panorama…
Only the spectacular road that you take to reach this heavenly corner, almost hidden in the winding hills of Chianti, is sufficient reason to stop and visit the stone streets and the characteristic historic center of Castellina in Chianti, is here that the great wines of Chianti are produced. D.O.C.G… we would stop in the cellar for a visit and a tasting of 3 Chianti wines accompanied by a snack of local products.
As soon as we have finished tasting the wonders that Chianti gives us, we will continue our journey towards Siena; universally known for its artistic heritage and for the substantial stylistic unity of its medieval urban furniture, as well as for its famous palio; we will visit the Duomo, the square of the field and the Palazzo Pubblico with the tower of Mangia to enjoy a breathtaking view.
In the midst of vines and hay bales
Our awakening in the midst of vines and hay bales takes us to another world, and that’s how we start this day, among the cultivation of olive trees, vineyards and cypresses; we will visit one of the main vines and one of the many cellars where Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is produced, one of the 3 most famous Italian wines in the world.
Il Nobile is the ideal wine to accompany the local cuisine, which offers simple and tasty products and dishes: prosciutto, gustosi crostini with spleen and live, pansanto, and crispy bruschetta are just a few…
Immediately after our tasting we will arrive directly to the village of Montepulciano, the pearl of the Italian Renaissance. Furthermore to elegance, wine and art, Montepulciano is the only place in the world that houses its cellars under the village, under the main palaces in fact we will find paths full of stairs that will take us directly to the barrels of wine and there, among the Etruscan tufa quarries, the smell of wine and among the wooden barrels we could feel all the essence that no other place can ever give us!
Montalcino and Pienza
Montalcino and Pienza, and we are still in the colourful, enchanting homeland of red wine, Val d’ Orcia. Starting from Montalcino, a place where one of the most famous red wines in the world is produced: Brunello di Montalcino.
But Montalcino is not only wine: the narrow streets and alleys of the small village are very characteristic and really enchanting and this is where we will taste the excellence of Italian wine! Continuing our journey over a hill, we now see a charming town, Pienza, famous for its pecorino cheese and for the beautiful Piazza Pio II, with its particular trapezoidal shape and the characteristic herringbone paving, we would walk along the road of love, kissing and luck along this fantastic village and then stop to dine the traditional pecorino cheese of Pienza, the Picci, and the renowned Chianina, obviously all accompanied by the red wine!
The Republic of San Marino
It’s time to get to know new territories so we move towards Emilia Romagna, in our journey will be a must stop to visit the first republic in the world, the Republic of San Marino!
On top of Mount Titano, adjacent to the territory of Emilia Romagna, we find this wonderful village where we can admire the Adriatic Sea from one of its three towers, and get to know the three ancient castles built on the rocks of Monte Titano. We will continue our journey towards the lively Rimini to recharge our batteries, soak up some sunshine by the sea and relax for a whole day!
Then enjoy a fabulous fish dinner, seeing the sunset overhanging directly from the terraces of Gabicce Monte.
We will have the whole day to enjoy the hotel’s facilities, make us a regenerating massage and enjoy the Adriatic Sea then at dinner time we will move inland to taste the best cheeses and meats of Romagna!
Food Valley Day in Parma
Food Valley Day in Parma! Discovering the main products of the territory famous all over the world: Parmigiano-Reggiano, Prosciutto di Parma and DOC wines.
Of the Colli di Parma such as Lambrusco and Malvasia. And here’s our itinerary: We will visit an authentic Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese factory to admire how the ”King of Cheeses” was born and then continue with a visit to a producer of the most famous ham in the world: Prosciutto di Parma.
Stop for some suggestive photos of the medieval village of Torrechiara. Lunchtime: tasty tasting of typical products in a charming wine cellar. And in the afternoon we will move to the nearby province of Modena or Reggio-Emilia to visit a real vinegar mill with its barrels of Traditional Balsamic Vinegar.
Tasting at the end of the visit.
And now we will see the landscapes from another perspective… on two wheels! From Lake Garda, an authentic natural pearl, it is one of the pride of the Italian territory.
We will depart from Peschiera del Garda in a southerly direction towards Mantova, 23 km easy to travel in the footsteps of the river Mincio that we will cross passing through the village of Borghetto where we will still see the water mills working and then we will arrive to the park of the Sicurtà.
After this sporting day, a dinner at a typical Veneto region farmhouse awaits you!
Arrive in Verona
Love at first sight…. And that’s how we arrive in Verona, a splendid city of art wrapped in the millenarian history and given to myth by Shakespearean masterpiece.
Among Roman remains, medieval vestiges, Venetian remains and Austrian footprints that alternate in ancient palaces, squares, bridges and wonderful churches, all to be discovered and where we will spend the whole day to welcome all the essence that this place gives us.
And to conclude our journey through some of the Italian excellence we will continue towards the wonderful Venice.
Venice….. Dulcis in fundu! We arrive at the fascinating Venice, through its canals, bridges, alleys, and the gestures of the mimes we will arrive to St. Mark’s Square, Renaissance part of this place will take us into another dimension, where the refinement and elegance are the masters and among the various palaces we will sit right in the middle of St. Mark’s Square to sip an aperitif accompanied by a wonderful melody of piano and violin.
